A not-for-profit association dedicated in part to protecting the public’s pets from the dangers of wildlife traps.
To provide safety information and training to the public about keeping their pets away from wildlife traps and minimizing their harm.
Funded by donors and a grant from the government, this educational webcast was designed to share safety information with the public in a geographical area where trapping and hunting is a way of life. A two-hour virtual event conducted in an old schoolhouse, the not-for-profit association’s educational webcast was free and open to anyone who was interested in attending. It doubled as a fundraising event for the association, with attendees provided with ways to donate.
A nationally recognized animal rescue expert presented live, demonstrating with a toy stuffed dog how one might encounter various traps and snares. He showed attendees how to open the traps in the event a pet got caught in one, as well as shared lifesaving first aid techniques. Pre-recorded video clips showing what the traps look like in the wild were also used as part of the webcast, which culminated in a lengthy Q&A session.
